Our most technically challenging build to date assembled from five individual plots set within a conservation area fronting the North Sea.
Originally built as three separate but aesthetically similar Victorian villas, the site previously operated as a care facility but in recent years had been left vacant and unloved. To the rear of the site stood a block of garages with asbestos rooves.
Determined to restore the site to its former glory but in modern context, our work will see the removal of low-quality extensions front and rear that pave the way for all-new fabrications to link the three villas together. Working with Thanet District Council’s Conservation and Planning Team, the building form and aesthetic has been designed to ensure the original villas are celebrated, with the newly built form being subordinate and modern, to emphasise the old/new relationship.
When finished, Phase II (‘Chalk House’ as it will be known) will provide wonderful homes with a premium finish along with car parking, EV charging, a children's playground, private and shared gardens linked with Westcliff House, BBQ facilities, secure bike storage and private gym. Combined with Phase I, this new neighbourhood will provide 72 Regional Build To Rent homes.
